A set of energy-momentum constraint-preserving boundary conditions is proposed for the first-order Z4 case. The stability of a simple numerical implementation is tested in the linear regime (robust stability test), both with the standard corner and vertex treatment and with a modified finite-differences stencil for boundary points which avoids corners and vertices even in cartesian-like grids. We give a combinatorial proof of the result of Hetyei and Reiner that there are exactly $n!/3$ permutations of length $n$ in the minmax tree representation of which the $i$th node is a leaf. We study Stirling permutations defined by Gessel and Stanley. We prove that their generating function according to the number of descents has real roots only. Using 22.7M BBbar events collected with the BABAR detector at SLAC, we present preliminary measurements of the branching fractions for charmless hadronic decays of B mesons into two-body, quasi two-body and three-body final states with pions, kaons, and rho and a0 resonances. We prove that the generating polynomials of partitions of an $n$-element set into non-singleton blocks, counted by the number of blocks, have real roots only. We apply this information to find the most likely number of blocks. As another application of the real zeros result, we prove that the number of blocks is normally distributed in such partitions. Following a question of J. Cooper, we study the expected number of occurrences of a given permutation pattern $q$ in permutations that avoid another given pattern $r$. In some cases, we find the pattern that occurs least often, (resp. most often) in all $r$-avoiding permutations. We also prove a few exact enumeration formulae, some of which are surprising.
